Fishing in the stream running not far from their house, he showed me how to tie my first knots and how far from the cork we should place the hook n worm. We would sit for many hours that summer fishing, just talking and looking for that cork float to go under.Pali Fisherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09888342138759306262noreply@blogger.comBlogger15125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7976744454711477606.post-12407935873093629782013-04-14T10:06:00.003+02:002013-04-18T08:32:50.931+02:00<h2>

In this post and the videos I have made, I will explain how to fish for trout in a pretty simple and highly effective way, with a regular spinning rod and reel. My 15 yearol daughter landed a 10 pound trout on this kinda rig in past seasons.</div>

Japanese, American and English all seem to have different size classes to the same hooks. So a Size 6 in England is a different size in Japan and the US. But I figure a small hook is a small hook no matter where you are from.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

The hook size I use in the video is the absolute biggest hooks I would use for freshwater trout’s, can’t say it enough small quality hooks for trout is the best option.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Now I could go into details for hours and write a book on this Trout fishing topic, but that’s already been done many times. So if you don’t know a whole lot about fish movement and placement in the water according to weather changes, I can highly recommend a trip to the library or bookstore to find a book about it. Google also knows, but sometimes you find stuff in books that people haven’t posted online.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Smaller and shallow ponds are easier to read then others, mainly because there is minimal current in the water and it’s the weather that have the biggest effect on the water. Big ponds and lakes, the current is much more generated by temperature differences, in the water due to depth changes but wind also have some to say. So the wind can be in one direction, but the underwater current can be a different direction. The current effects the natural placement of the trout’s hunting ground, they are going to hunt where the current naturally would carry the prey animals. So fishing this area always gives more strikes, it’s only a question about reading the water and get your bait out and present it right. The Air pressure also have a great impact on the feeding and activity, low pressure is not that good, between 1010 and 1025 hPa is ideal if you want to get technical.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Bombard floats: <img alt="" src="http://www.theworldwidefishingclub.com/public/album_photo/42/2e/2e14_2e22.jpg?c=ebea" height="33" style="border: currentColor; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" width="296" /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
You can get different types and sizes, floating, intermedia and sinking, between 10 and 30 grams, with 5 g. interval. Thread your reel line thru the Bombarda float, tie a small swivel or quick-change swivel in the end of the line and your Bombarda is now mounted. Some place a small plastic beet between the float and the swivel, I haven’t experienced any difference so now I just leave the beet out.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
I mainly use intermedia and floating, but are you fishing deep waters a sinking bombarda is the key to get to the bottom region. Are you fishing in small shallow ponds and streams, the floating is my favorite and the intermedia is great for the in between or if it’s weedy. The split shots pull your rig to the bottom and the distance from the last sinker to the Power bait, determines the depth of the lure.(well powerbait floats, so the distance above the bottom) I normally start with a shot placed about 20 cm from the hook, then another 1-2 split shots with 5 inches in between. Work it thru the water a few times, if you have no strikes after 5 min you should change your depth. Spend a little time on that, maybe move spot if you’re not sure you are on the fish and the depth changes haven’t given you strikes.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Reel motion:</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Cast your line out, close the reel before the float hits the water. This will make shure the rig will land further away, with less chance of tangling. Try to overshoot the area the fish are located, and let the lure sink. Now start reeling in slowly, stop cranking after maybe 10-15-20 turns and wait 5-6 seconds. Start reeling again and continue the start n stop action, the second you feel a strike open the reel and let it take the bait for a short run before you close the reel and set the hook.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Fluorocarbon:</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
It’s very simple, fluorocarbon is worth the few extra bucks. You only need to use it for your rig material, so there is no need to fill your reel spool with fluorocarbon line. A good casting line is preferred of cause, but one of the key elements to lure presentation and more strikes is fluorocarbon rigs. The reflection of light in fluorocarbon is the same as water, rendering it nearly impossible for the fish to see the line. What more can you ask for, then invisible line? Pick a rig line with a lesser break strength, then your reel line. That way you are more likely only to lose the fish and hook, keeping your Bombard float safe on your reel line. </div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The Rig:</div>

<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Start with a fluorocarbon line about the length of your rod, once you get a hang of it you can with benefit make the rig longer. Tie a small single hook, in one end of the line. I prefer spade hooks or at least a spade hook knot, it gives a better hooking angle, it’s a really strong knot and the power bait sticks better to the hook. In the other end we tie a figure-eight loop, now place 2-3 BB size split shots onto your rig line. Start about 20 cm. from the hook knot, and follow with about 10 cm intervals. Don’t close them too tight, you want to be able to move them up and down, without damaging the fluorocarbon. It’s easier to replace a dropped split shot, then changing rig and rehook the fish.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Bait:</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
I prefer Power bait doe, but you can use all kind of artificial baits or live worms. Power bait gives me a wide selection in colors, it is fast to switch from one color to another if the first selection didn’t give you any strikes. My favorite colors are White, black and cheese yellow doe. </div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
I roll a small ball to get it firm, place it on the hook and press it back into shape of a ball covering the hook. Then I roll the ball in the palm of my hand, so I get a small tail shape rolled out in a slight angle to the hook. This will give it a great, rotating presentation that will tempt most trout’s to a fast strike.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Now you just need to tie up some rigs, get a few Bombarda floats and get out and try it. You can also use clear bubble floats, but they don’t cast anywhere near as well and often makes too big and loud a splash when it hits the water.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Now let's say you need a beer break or what ever, you can just cast out and let it sit as normal and get back to cranking the reel after you finished your beer.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: #f3f8f5; color: #576366; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">Today I sorted out my tackle box with Rigs, Safety clips, Hooks and all those small bits and pieces to see what I need for the new season. Boxed up two reels and extra spools, moved my rods out of the old hold-all and into my new 5 rod quiver with sleeves. Separated two sleeves and packed the quiver with the rest of the rods away again.</span><br />

Leaving Saturday evening after a shop event and a meeting with hopefully another sponsor, leaving with a truck loaded with a little tackle and more than a ton of bait. We (my sponsor) have a bait delivery in Spain, so no I'm not gonna be feeding with a ton of bait on this trip.</span><br />

Finally I got launched the new season of The Boilie Effect!</h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUUZSoWhWzESyvF65F3eFSiJow8tI-SbGoIBXRd4Hd8YVqIlvDpeEOE95a1hU_jvSM_RvUC-tv-AO3pqCN6WrjrnhIIk4__cOvMjvVNtQfGbi02EufBv1uJ00aFbfLZGFuK2rF8JLWQNc/s1600/The+Boile+effect+-+it's+magical3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUUZSoWhWzESyvF65F3eFSiJow8tI-SbGoIBXRd4Hd8YVqIlvDpeEOE95a1hU_jvSM_RvUC-tv-AO3pqCN6WrjrnhIIk4__cOvMjvVNtQfGbi02EufBv1uJ00aFbfLZGFuK2rF8JLWQNc/s1600/The+Boile+effect+-+it's+magical3.jpg" height="262" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
To start this 2nd season I decided to make a video about boilie production, so I visited Northern Baits in Norway and in their Baitcave I made A LOT of boiles.<br />
<br />
For those who don't know what boilies is, it's a boiled doe ball used for Carp and Catfish bait. I make them from a mix of many different ingredients, the main ingredients are LT-94 Fishmeal (made from whole fish)and Krill meal along with Eggs, undiluted krill protein and spices.<br />
<br />
I hope you all will enjoy this 1st. episode "A shit load of boilies" and the rest of the new season, I've put in a lot of effort in planing this season.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
In the 2nd. episode I will visit the Ebro river in Spain, home of Monster Catfish and Giant Carps.<br />

Work, life and many exciting things have come in the way, taken up my time. And well thats life for you right there, but it's great!<br />
<br />
In December 2012 I went to Parco del Brenta in Italy fishing for a week, unfortunately the weather wasn't with us and we came down there just as the cold sat in. It really effected the fishing, where I had hoped to land a bunch of great fish I only got 3 fish in 6 days fishing. Non the less I got a nice Italian PB for Common carp at 16,4 kg (36.15 lbs) and another PB for Channel Catfish at 8 kg (17.63 lbs) all on Northern Baits Krillers<br />

<br />
So I went to Norway for a month in January to Febuary 2013, did a little work and some fishing. Okay I did a lot of work, and a little fishing. I'll have a Video up from my trip soon, still waiting for some Underwater footage and a few other things before I can finalize the editing and get the Video up. I also shot a episode of "The Boilie Effect" during a visit to my Sponsors Northern Baits, they where nice enough to let me use their baitcave and I where able to make a "S**t load" of boilies for the upcoming season. So there will be no shortage of high quality bait this year either!<br />
<br />
Then I spend a week in the sun at Puerto Rico (Grand Canaria) where I had hoped to go Carp fishing, but apparently the Guide company "Carp Grand Canaria" where very busy as they never replied to my E-mail. Non the less I had a great time, fishing or no fishing but it would have been great to catch a carp on Grand Canaria.<br />
<br />
Upcoming I will go to Spain once again in a few weeks, this time to visit the mighty Ebro river - home of Monster Catfish and Giant Carps for 10 days. The trip is planned with Gary Sheridan from www.carpdreamfishing.com. We are focusing on Carp fishing, but as far as I know he also guides Catfish trips if thats your poison. Tho I would not mind hooking into one of those huge monsters, I'm afraid my line wouldn't be up for the job of landing a Monster Catfish.<br />
<br />
So stay tuned and keep an eye out for the upcoming Season of "The Boilie Effect"<br />
<br />
Cheers - Pali<br />

<h2>
An anglers Journal</h2>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">Why do many
anglers keep a journal or diary? Let me
give you a clue about why I keep a logbook from my fishing adventures and no it’s
not to keep stats on my bragging rights. That’s what my Digital Camera and Camcorder
is for. <img border="0" src="http://www.theworldwidefishingclub.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-cool.gif" /><br /><br /><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">Most
serious and old school anglers have a notebook or journal in one shape or
another, where they keep a diary of their catches. More and more probably use
apps for this, but I’m old school and yet have to be converted into this. Maybe
if I made my own I would be able to get used to this, but I yet have to find
one with all the stats I want in my diary in one app. Also I don’t like the
risk of losing my diary if I should lose my phone; have to deal with transferring
it to a new phone if I were to change it. Maybe coz I’m a bit too old school
and I still see my cell phone as a tool to call people, sure texting can be
handy as long it’s not conversations people try to keep with me. Maybe coz I
suck at texting, takes me forever to type in a message and specially on those
new touch screens. It’s very handy that it got a clock and alarm, I have to
give it that but the million other features my phone have, I totally ignore and
don’t even bother to try and learn – Ignorance is bliss!?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />Anyway back
on track, writing an old fashion diary got its benefits if I have to say it and
I have to. At least it’s my blog so if I’m not gonna say it who else? I can easy backtrack in my notes, writing
everything down also stores it better in my mental memory bank. So often I don’t
have to look in my diary, even though I end up doing it anyway just to be sure
that I did remember correct. I’m the kind of guy who like to be right, I’m not
opinionated or anything like that. I try to stick to facts.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />Now that I
mention facts – let’s look at facts and rules for catching fish, well I guess the
main fact and rule #1 would be. There are no facts and rules to catching fish,
there are a million guidelines, good advice, old sayings and an odd thumb of
rule for every old-timer out there. But no sure way to catch fish, you can download
charts, set after the moon calendar telling you today will be a bad day for
fishing. You end up going fishing anyway, turning out to be a good day for you.
Or it’s the other way around, chart said good fishing and no one caught
anything. And what have this to do with a fishing diary? Well if you take note after
more than the moon, and take note on the many factors in play. You will be able
to get a better idea about what will worked for you under different conditions,
from previous experiences you made on your other trips to the water. You can
improve your future trips to the same or similar waters! <o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />One of the
main keys are being able to locate the fish, some use fish finders and that’s fine
for big lakes and open ocean. But personally I’m a freshwater angler, I fish carp,
trout and pike the most and from the shore. So skills are needed to figure out
where to fish from or you will be spending a full day, without as much as a
single strike on a poor day. You can toss out all the best lures or expensive baits
you want, if the fish aren’t there they will not be able to take it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">Handy and
very basic old school tools are a </span><span lang="EN-US">thermometer
and </span><span lang="EN-US" style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: white; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">an<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span></span>aneroid barometer<span lang="EN-US">. With those and common knowledge about fish locating,
you can factor a lot of important information that will help your fishing. Many
also use a moon calendar, but that will in my experience not help much on how or
where to fish. Were most other things you can read out of the water and
surroundings, can help guide you to where to fish, how deep and if a fast or
slow moving lures will work best? The moon chart will tell you if the day is
supposed to be good or bad fishing, but it lags a lot and not much use for a
skilled angler who reads the water. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />Temperature,
atmospheric/barometric pressure and wind direction is some of the most
important elements, these can help you determent where the fish will be
located. You can read a lot about barometric pressure on many sites, where
anglers ponder about how much effect this have on fish and fishing. To give you
a straight answer, it does affect the fish but it differs from species to
species, how deep the water is and how much the pressure changes. It has been
studied by many very clever people, over many decades so there are plenty of
real facts on the effect it has on fish. Shallow water fish are much more
effected then deep water fish; some species can easier adjust the pressure in
their swim bladder and be less affected by rising/dropping pressure. The size
of the water body is also a key in this, so a small pond is affected faster
than the sea.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />If the fish is able to
adjust the depth to make up for the pressure, they will do that and the fish
will be located according to the pressure and you fish after it there. But
temperature also affects where the fish will be, so if the temperature of the
water is too hot, the fish will likely swim deep to cool even if the pressure
will give it discomfort. In that case, they are less likely to bite making it
harder to catch. Again no rule without exceptions, territorial species will
often strike a lure invading its territory. In that case you are more likely to
get a strike and catch, on an imitating lure then on flavor/bait. So depending
on the weather you should maybe change location and fish after a different species
then you usual target. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />Wind direction/water
movement will help you know where the fish are likely to be hunting, as the
fish will be following the natural movement of their pray. About wind, there is
an old saying that “wind from southeast – fish will bite the least.” It might
be true; maybe it’s depending on where you are located in the world. Might be
horrible fishing, under these conditions at the west coast in the states, but
the perfect condition on the east cost of New Zealand. To be honest I have no
clue about this, I personally don’t take notes on wind direction like that. Only
to see where the fish are likely to feed in the lake, also as a freshwater
angler, tides are not a concern of mine either. Are you a saltwater angler,
this is important to take notes on.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />I mainly take notes on
Air/Water Temp, Air Pressure, Time of the catch, Depth, Bait or Lure type and it’s
Color/Flavor, Species, Weight and location. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />When you have done
this a few seasons you will be able to see a pattern in what colors and lure
types, work the best for you in what season and under what conditions. Again it’s
a guideline as mentioned in the beginning, but it will help the beginner to
learn a lot and improve his/her fishing. For the less novice and serious anglers
this is simply a fun activity, geeky stuff to add to this great hobby, something
that you might still learn from. The avid anglers, well some grow out of it. Others
just keep on keeping journals still after 20+ years, some journals are passed
on to younger generations. I remember a good friend I grew up with, in our teenage
years he got his grandfather’s fishing journal and we took it with us on a
weekend trip to his Grandparents cabin. A place we had visited more than a few times
as kids, fishing a private stretch of creek near buy. We had fished this creek many
times before, a great place for browns, rainbow trout and eel. But we never had
cached before like we did that summer, with a note book with drawings and notes
on every curve and every deep hole in the water. Showing where the fish would likely
stand ready to strike when pray passed them in the current; it was a gold mine
of information for two young anglers eager to learn. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US">Is there
any greater feeling then getting new tackle? Maybe there are a few things but I
promised not to fill in sexual content to the blog when I signed up, so let’s
just stick to getting new tackle and fishing gear is the greatest feeling ever.
At least for me, I always get a nice warm feeling in my whole body and a goofy
satisfied looking smile on my face right after ;)</span></div>

I was able to wrap a towel around my waist and get out and open the door before
she drove off again, as she only do knock once and wait 20 sec before she’s off
to the next house. If you can call it lucky to stand in the door dripping wet
in the cold wind waiting for her to walk back from her car, while giving me an odd
stair. I then realize I’m standing there wrapped in a pink towel with a Disney princess print belonging to my girlfriends daughter.</span></div>

package from <a href="http://www.paradoxcustoms.net/" target="_blank">Paradox customs</a>. Always very satisfying when shipping time is as
low as possible, yes I am a bit like a little kid Christmas morning when it
comes to buying fishing tackle. I most of the time buy locally to a much higher
price than what I can get it for online, simply because that way I don’t have
to wait for it to be shipped to me. But living on an island in small Denmark, it’s
not always easy to get what I really want locally either. Especially I can’t
buy custom build lures, that are handmade and if I could. I would most
likely have to pay 3x the price. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

catch anything, but we had a great time just the same. We both love the nature
and spending time together, that’s what our weekend trips are all about.
Normally at home, I spend a lot of time in front of the computer. My daughter
loves reading, so she will have her face buried in a book and I can only say I’m
happy about that. She spends more time reading then watching television!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Saturday
just before noon we arrived at the pond, were I overtook a spot from a friend
who had been there the previous few days. Got the bevy raised, bedchairs and
everything in place, then baited up the rods and casted out. From there it was
just relaxation, cozy chatting and cooking over fire. At night the temp dropped down to -5 C degrees, but not enough to lower the
moral of the camp ;)<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

morning I got up, early as always and had a</span></span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">n hour for myself looking out over
the water. Then the carp anglers in the “neighbor” bevy’s started to get up
too, there were two other anglers there for a 24 hour session. My daughter
might be different than many other teens I know, in the way she cares to go fishing
and camping in the weekends with her crazy fishing geek dad. But in other ways
she’s like any other teen, which easy can sleep 12-16 hours if you don’t wake
them up.<br />
Around noon I had made brunch for us, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon with
toast. I don’t mind beans, but I’d rather just eat more bacon and sausages.</span></span><br />

passed a lot like the day before, with the only difference that the other

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">This might come as a surprise to some of you, but I do that a lot and
I do it most of the year!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">In the
middle of March the weather got really nice, as far as I recall it’s been
warmer this spring and earlier then usual. Have had several days where a hoodie
have been sufficient for most of the day, first at sunset it’s been necessary to
put on a jacket. There have been little rain and bad weather at all this
spring, it’s been awesome fishing weather pretty much since the ice broke after
the winter. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">A mate
called me up and asked me what I had for plans for the last weekend of March; I
checked my calendar and double checked with my girlfriend. You know just to
keep the air in the house breathable, as I have been fishing A LOT since the
ice broke. On the other hand she knows I will have 3 months from middle of
April where I won’t be able to go fishing. And I will defiantly not have any chances
for overnight sessions, so she is very understanding. This time was no
different, so I called back and we planned an overnight session from Friday to Saturday
that was what I had free in my planner. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Everything
was packed up, the hold-all with my carp rods, unhooking mat, camp equipment
and all my wonderful bait materials from <a href="http://www.northernbaits.com/" target="_blank">Northern baits</a>; Boilies, pellets, dips
and particles. The weather channel was checked and I was ready to head out
Friday as soon my Girlfriend got home from work, she was going to use the car
for the weekend and drove me to the lake. I unhooked the trailer and home she
went, I was met by my mate who already had setup camp and had a cold beer ready
when I showed up at the fishing spot. We emptied our alu cans with bubbling golden
nectar worthy of gods, in beautiful spring weather. My mate helped me carry all
my stuff from the trailer, to the camp and I got in place with my setup. Tent,
bedchair, baited my rods up, plus everything else needed to start fishing. Now
it was time for another cold one, but first my mate had a bream pick up his <a href="http://www.northernbaits.com/" target="_blank">Northern baits</a> Krill boilie. So while he reeled in, released the bream and got his tackle
out again, I got a fire started and prepared to make fire baked potatoes. As most
other things I make over fire/hot ambers, it takes a lot of hours and my fire baked
potatoes is no different.<br /><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">After a
good pile of ambers where ready, I wrapped up 6 large ‘baking’ potatoes in
tinfoil. You can of cause do without but it’s easier to control with tinfoil,
less worrying about potatoes and more time to enjoy fishing. They were placed around
the red hot ambers, now we had a 3<span style="font-size: x-small;">rd</span> beer and our 2<span style="font-size: x-small;">nd</span>
bream. Around 8 pm our potatoes where ready, I had prepared some “stuffing”
from home, for the potatoes with ham, bacon, corn, cucumber and a dressing with
loads of garlic, chili, red onions and fresh Persil. Opened the jacket potatoes
and mashed them up a bit with a fork, added a fair amount of the “stuffing” and
they were ready to consume. They filled out hungry stomachs very well; my mate
was very surprised over how well they tuned out. Earlier he was a bit skeptic
about cooking potatoes in a campfire, but he put his trust in my cooking and I believe
he will do that again. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">As the
night went by another mate stopped by we had a few more beers and a few more
breams, not that exiting when you are out fishing for carp. In fact they fast
get boring, as they can’t put up much of a fight on our 12 ft. carp rods and semi
heavy tackle. It was the same thru the night, no carps but we got a few breamZzzzzzzz.
At least it was a nice and clear night, little wind and not that cold. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

morning I wake up by my tent is blown flat by a heavy wind, the carbon tent
poles pop’ the tent right up in place again and I sit up with a bit of a chock in
my bedchiar. What just happened, I take a look outside to be surprised, it’
looking like the Christmas morning most kids dream about. No there where not a
lot of presents outside my tent, but everything are covered in snow and huge
fat snowflakes are whirling around in the air. I close my eyes and open them again,
just to check - Where my eyes deceiving me, but they were not. Heavy snow was
falling fast and a strong wind had picked up, to make it all perfect a few
minutes later I caught yet another bream. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

enough once again my new <a href="http://www.musucbag.com/" target="_blank">Musucbag</a> proved its worth, as I could just get up and
walk out in my sleeping bag and real in the bream and release it. Cast out and
go back in my tent, after shaking most of the snow off me. The weather was
cold, clearly as it was snowing but I was not freezing or slightly cold myself.
<br />
A few hours later the weather cleared up, the sun broke thru the clouds and
dried up my tent after shaking most of the snow to the ground. At noon
everything was packed up, my girlfriend was right on time and home I went
again. Yet another wonderful overnight session had passed, in the beautiful nature.
With the unpredictable spring weather! Maybe we didn’t land any carps but we
had a great time none the less!</span></span></div>

on fishing and lifting their own level of success in sport’ fishing. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I was
warned about their 'kind' when I started to become a sport’s angler, evolving
from the regular Put & Take fisher visiting the local stocked trout lake.
No offence towards P&T, I still do that too from time to time. I love trout
fishing and it’s both easier and cheaper, then joining an angler club to get
the rights to fish the local streams. <br />
I soon after I started carp fishing met the first carp anglers who didn’t really
want to talk with me, as I was not a member of “his” carp angling community.
Here there are two carp angling “communities” and if you’re a member of one of
them, the other community members will not talk with you and vice versa. I’m a
member of non-of them. But I live in a very small country and I’m used to there
is a very limited amount of information available in Danish, the info there is
are often locked in private online forums that you will need to pay stupid
amounts of money to gain access to. Lucky me I am fairly skilled in English, where I can both read, write and talk English,
like so many of the wonderful people on the internet. I really don’t care if I
have to read a text in English or Danish, it’s all the same to me and when I rarely come across a word that I don’t know. I have Oxfords Advance Learners English dictionary
and internet right at hand, so it’s really not an issue to find all the
information I needed about Carp fishing online. I just went outside the Bit**ing
world of Danish Carp fishing communities; I soon met Carp anglers from England,
France, Canada, Australia and many other nations. Who has been nothing but
friendly, and egger to let me learn from them about carp fishing. Along with a
few Danish friends, who are experienced carp anglers. Especially the Danish friends
have been very helpful, with Danish lakes and ponds that aren’t public listed
as carp water. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I already
had a YouTube channel and made videos, also have year’s experience in PR and
finding sponsors for youth projects, festivals and concerts. So I figured I
could at least try and put that to good use, to see if I couldn’t find some
sponsors for myself for a change. My viewer group and subscribers on YouTube
was growing month by month, that at least have some PR value and I was sure
there where companies out there that would like to benefit from this. Even though
I don’t have a huge channel and I don’t have more than 3200 views a month on an
average, it’s growing and with some good sponsors the numbers will grow even
more.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">It took
many an e-mail sent, with no after no and many never even replied back. Then a
friend told me to contact a new Baits company from Norway, as they were looking for ‘test’
anglers. Now I don’t consider myself a test angler as I lag the experience to
be able to tell them what to change in there bait, but an advertisement fisher
doing PR for their companies. I have an honest and friendly appeal, and when I’m
out fishing with friends. It’s 90% of the time me the bystanders, or the angler
next to us will ask questions. Also I enjoy meeting and talking with new
people, so it’s an ideal mix of my honest and down to earth YouTube videos and
public relations when I am out fishing. I take my time to explain them what I’m
doing and what I am using, where I get my gear and bait’s in case they should
get intrigued to start fishing.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I get an
invite to join the Norwegian bait companies Facebook group, a media I hardly ever use and
only use for PR for the concerts and party’s I used to plan and manage. I join
there group and talk with them about what I have to offer, we get to an
agreement on how both parties can benefit from them sponsoring me products. And
I will in return send them pictures, upload my videos and do PR for their bait
in general once I know it works.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />
</span></span></div>
<b>Bait**** writes me out of the blue!</b><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">A few days
later the 13<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> January, out of the blue I get a mail from a Troels
Taylor from Bait****. A big bait company, who I very well know about. I already
had it recommended from some of my international angling friends, but I never
got around writing them. So I am a bit surprised and flattered to have them
write me. They offer me I can get cheap quality bait from them, but I kindly
decline as I just made a “sponsor” deal with Northern Bait and I’m true to my
word. No matter how big a company is, I would not bail on an agreement I already
made with my first sponsors. This guy keeps pressing on with his poor sales techniques,
trying to sell me his bait. I keep it friendly and keep on telling him no, also
he apparently have nothing to offer me and at first I’m not going for his storie about
how Bait**** and my new sponsors work in close relations. Especially not going
to go back on my words to go from free bait to “cheap” bait, it just makes no
sense to the logic thinking and honest person I consider myself. <br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now he
starts rambling and hanging a third bait company out to dry, bad mouthing CCmore
and I am like What the F**k is going on with this guy. He want to know about
the deal I made with my sponsor and what my team mates and I pay for the
Starbait bait we mainly use. Did he not just say he worked in close relation with them, he should know the deal we made then but not from me. I yet again kindly but now firmly tell him I have no
intention to tell him what I pay for anything, that Bait**** was the company
that wrote me and if they want to work with me I am not planning on being the
paying part. That company sponsorships work the other way around! You give me
free products and I in return give the company internet reviews and the other kind
of PR I mentioned already. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now he goes
from rambling crap about CCmore, that I have no affiliations with at all. To full on mental bit**ing about
how sh**ty I am and the videos I make is pure crap. How a ‘new’ carp angler can’t expect
to get sponsor deals, with free bait with nothing to show already. (But I
already had a sponsorship, so how serious can I take this guy) Then he refers
to the wrong youtube channel, so he went to the wrong place on YouTube. A 2<span style="font-size: x-small;">nd</span>
channel I have been working on, that only have two videos and 30 subscribers, but do have a link to my real channel. I’m
now thinking how retarded is this bloke, is he even for real or what the hell
is going on. I have never ever met a person who is representing a company who act's
like that, so I write Bait**** UK and ask them. “Who is this guy and is he for
real?”<br />
To my surprise; he is representing Bait****, they say they are sorry about how
he’s acted towards me, but he sell’s a fair amount of Bait**** bait. They also
assure me that they will have a chat with him, as they don’t like the story I
have to tell them about my experience with Bait****. The last I hear from this
guy Troels Taylor/Bait**** direct is a dissenting mail, showing that Troels Taylor
clearly have no clue about what it is I am doing and what international PR is worth. I’m
also blocked on his Bait**** and personal Facebook group and that’s it, I don’t
give him or Bait**** any more thoughts – until recently.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The 24<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span>
march 2012 I land a 26.8 lbs carp on my sponsor bait, breaking my own
and several other Danish carp angler’s personal best. In a difficult rated public
lake!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://worldwideangling.blogspot.com/2012/03/against-all-recommendations.html" target="_blank">Read my post on the 26.8 lbs carp here</a></div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The 27<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span>
march 2012 the video is published on YouTube and shared by my bait sponsors on their
Facebook group, I guess now Troels Taylor from Bait**** get to see my real
channel thru that group.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And there I am,
I thought I already had seen the bad side of this guy from Bait**** - but how wrong
I was.<br />
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><br />
He is now transformed from Troels Taylor to Troll Taylor, as I later get an
phone call from one guy and a e-mail from another informing me that he’s apparently been viewing all my videos (got to
thank him for that at least). And now he’s on his Facebook forum I was blocked from,
calling me a cunt, among other things, flaming and bitching about me. Over every little thing he
can find wrong with the videos, which I have made over the past years.
Something about I drop a Pike; sure I am not proud of that, but it’s what
happens I guess and yeah I could easy have edited it out of the video. But the Northern
Pike was checked, it was unharmed and safely released again. It was dropped <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>into high grass that was flattened so we could
fish there, so why lie and edit it out - it happened and I stand corrected. After that I have always
had my unhooking mat with me, as it already on YouTube was pointed out it would
be a good idea. Also shows in the following pike videos, that I use my
unhooking mat. <span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: DA; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">But fair enough it doesn’t look good! </span></span></span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: DA; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Then they move on to complaining about the music I chose for my videos, which I kind of find
hilarious. Who cares if one or two people like my choice of
music or not. </span></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I have
nothing to hide or be ashamed over in my opinion, I have thousands of views every
week and so far I have few dislikes in total collected over 2 years. We all know
YouTube; and YouTubers are fast at judging, many are really fast on the thumbs down button.
So I am not worried about the quality of the videos I make and the fish care I provide,
also a huge part of the flaming is done towards another angler that’s with me
in some of my videos. I guess he could not find enough on me to really get a
debate going. I have no way to address this direct to Troels Taylor, I would have preferred
to take it up as real men - not done in public domain. Also I would have taken
it direct to Bait**** UK, if they not already showed me they have no way or intention
to control their pit bull Troll Taylor.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">So to address
the matter I have chosen to write an honest blog post about it, as a carp angler who do reviews, videos and try to put my heart out there I'm sharing my experience, with the company Baitcraft. Not a company I so far for all the reasons mentioned above can recommend
anyone to support, I have no clue how good their bait is - It is properly fine. I will properly never
know, as I don’t think I will be spending my money there. I would on
the other hand, like to have an apology from Troels Taylor and Bait****.
As Troels Taylor/Bait**** took liberty to public flame me on Facebook, in a
forum I’m blocked from so I can’t read or reply there. Rather than take whatever
issues he/they have with me, up with me as real men in private. I don’t care
if my videos on YouTube are public domain, he is still representing Bait****.
He should not be trolling people he first wanted to showcase bait****, after I
said no to him. It only shows he is a sorry and sad person with no integrity,
Bait**** apparently did not tell him to be a better front for their company, after
I wrote them the first time. </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I honestly don’t think I will get an apology from
either Troels Taylor or Bait****, but I am willing to be surprised! </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The moral
of the post: If you have an issue with someone, take it up with them, and show you
can do better. Rather than being a cunt, bit**ing about it behind their bag, without
giving them the chance to stand up for themselves. It's a bad move. <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
UPDATE* August 2012<br />
<br />
Troels Taylor is no longer selling bait for Northernbaits or Baitcraft, after he hang me out to dry he then started to flame my friends from Team Bjørnebanden. It resulted in his relationship with Northern baits ended, shortly after that I was informed that his British supplier of baits also quit working with him. Thats good enough for me, so I have removed the company name from this post. <br />

<strong>My first carp session of 2012 - by Pali</strong><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Finally I was
able to get out there for a full weekend Carp session; this was my first overnight
fishing trip of 2012. I have had plans to go out for so long, but then the
water froze solid, my daughter got sick and so on. The following weekend I had everything
packed from the weekend before, had charged up my camera and nothing could stop
me. At least that’s what I thought - Thursday morning I cracked a tooth and had
to get it pulled Friday morning, so with that start on my weekend I didn’t feel
like going anywhere. Tho half my face was still numb you just know, that’s only
going to last till the anesthetic wears off and then pain will follow. Not really
the best combination for a fishing trip and sleeping outdoors in match, with a bleeding
bone deep crater in the jaw. We still have cold nights, some below freezing. Normally
that’s not something that would bother me, but let’s face it I’m not Bear Grylls.
<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">My daughter
canceled the following weekend, as she had some school things she needed to
take care of. So now I was determined to get out there, but where to go? Last
year I have been fishing all the local ponds on the island I live on, also
visiting a few not so local ponds and lakes. I wanted this to be a great start
of 2012, now that I had so much trouble getting started. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">A few years
ago I moved from the mainland to the Island Fyn, moving in with my wonderful girlfriend.
I used to live in a small town called Haderslev, where there are some wonderful
areas with great nature. A wonderful forest, a few good size ponds. One near an
old water mill, a place I have spent many summer nights, mainly drinking a few around
a campfire with good friends. But I have often seen carp fishers around the
lake, also I found some information that the carps in the lake where old. (15-20
years or more) <br />
I figured that there would be a fair chance they had grown huge, if not savages
with bbq’s have eaten them all or thieving basterds have moved them all to ‘private’
ponds. Why I’m not very specific with lake names and locations, but again if
your local or have a bit of insight as an Danish carp angler you will know what
lake I’m talking about. (If your a catch and release angler, you can always write me for locations)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Everything
is planned; I have even called the local angling club about prices for the
fishing. One of my team mates going out with me, write me about the location I
have picked for the weekend. Thrilled about my idea of a great nature experience,
with nothing else to really go by I send him the location I picked. Let’s just
say he was less than thrilled, I get an reply that he did some research and the
last report from the lake was in the 90’s and everyone he spoke with told him
not to go to this lake. On some closed Danish carp forum the lake is rated difficult
or very difficult, but I’m like who cares? It’s a great spot and I have a good
feeling about this! <br />
After a great deal of writing back and forth we decide to change the location,
I find a pond rated easy, with a big carp population that another carper I know
was going to visit the same weekend. A place I have never been, so I have no
idea what to expect. I write my mate and ask what he thinks about that location
and he’s super thrilled, that should be a great spot and he have before thourt
about visiting that spot. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>Friday morning
I pack the last things and leave for Esbjerg, type in the location in the GPS –
Nature and carps here I come!</strong> <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Arriving to
the pond, I find out there will be no nature experience in this. It’s an urban
park pond; there is a group of scooter riding teenagers on one side of the
pond. I find my local friend in the other end of the pond, right next to a church.
I’m thinking what the hell, just thrilled to finally be out carping. But as the
after noon and night go’ without a bite and annoying teenagers racing each
other around the pond on their noisy scooters and slowly their group go from a
few kids to a regular youth party. Around 2 am we have three way to drunk
teenage girls asking us a million questions and only after we get impolite and simply
start to ignore them they move on. The night go’s without as much as a single bleep
or indication of fish in the area, the next morning I get woken by holy spam in
the shape of huge church bells ‘DING’ ‘DING’ ‘DING’ going on for 10 min or so. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I’m like
come-on, stop that noise. No one is going to church anyway, why are you ringing
those bells spamming the whole neighborhood with your ‘holy’ spam?<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">At that point
I had it with this location, my mates are anyway going home today and I was the
only one who had plans about a full weekend session. So I pack everything up
along with them after breakfast, at the same time a few new carp anglers show
up looking for a spot to fish. I tell them they can have our spot as we are
leaving, I’m going to go to this spot I had in mind all week. A few of them
tell me not to go there, it’s a very difficult spot and if I haven’t been there
before and if I haven’t been prefeeding for weeks I will not have a chance to
catch anything. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I don’t
care about all that, also one of the reasons I’m not a member on any Carp fishing
forum. The general attitude towards other anglers and specially if you’re not a
“well known” carp angler, also if your member of one club then some people from
other clubs will not talk to you at all and stupid shit like that. I could not
care less about what club people are members of, what brand of bait they think
is the best or whatever schmucks like that thinks of me just because they don’t
know me. Maybe they are just trying to be nice; telling it’s difficult location
but the way they talk to people they don’t know with a dissenting tone is not
cool.<br />
After I’m done packing, I say good bye to my mates and the new arrived anglers.
I drive to the lake I really wanted to visit, pay the 30 kr. (5.5$) for a 24
hour fishing session and start looking for a good spot. Now I have a fairly
good idea where I should go, as I do have 9 years of local experience with the
nature around the pond. I have seen where many other carp anglers have been
fishing from; I have also spent many an hour reading of the net and talking tactics
with carp anglers. Especially on a worldwide basis as I might not be so well
known locally, I have a huge international network as a member and moderator on
the worldwidefishingclub.com <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I find a few
good spots, but decide to scope out a bit more of the area. That was a great
idea, as I find a spot with a clean gravel bottom and low water levels, where I
also can see a few freshwater clam shells that have washed onshore. So I jump
in my waders and simply walk’s out into the lake to check how far I can walk
out before it get real <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>deep, how the
bottom is and what do I find? A huge clam bed 30 meters out in the lake and I’m
only in a bit more then waist deep water, so I change tactics where I had plans
on fishing across the lake. I end up fishing an angle across the clam bed I
found on low water, spreading out a bit of spot mix made from boiled corn,
peas, grain and hemp seeds with paprika and curry. I also spread out some 6 and
8 mm pellets, a few handfuls of small 14mm homemade freezer boilies from last
year and a few broken up bait boilies from <a href="http://northernbaits.com/">Northernbaits.com</a> <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now I bait
up my favorite rigs, very simple basic hair rigs with ‘The Frank’ and the ‘Winter’
boilies I got sponsored as test boilies from <a href="http://northernbaits.com/">Northern baits</a>. I cast out and now
set up camp, put up the bivy and get everything ready for a nice 24 hour
session. I’ve pretty much only got to the part where I got a campfire going, so
I a bit later could heat up my left over goulash from yesterday. As I have a thing
for cooking goulash when I’m out fishing, where I have the time to let it cook
4+ hours and get it just perfect!</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/1RhflVbJ2RQ?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I sat down
in the bivy as I was about to do a video update, when my bite alarm went off
and I get my Video camera turned 90 degrees in the same fluent motion as I run
for my rod. Where my line is just flying of the reel, the line break is not set
to handle this big carps so after I close the bait runner it keep taking out a lot
of line. I normally fish waters where a 15 pound carp is a fairly big fish. It takes
me a bit to get the break set, so I’m able to reel in but also giving room for
the fish to pull out line. I don’t want to lose this fish; here I am at the
lake where everyone told me not to go. I caught a carp faster than I ever done
before, so it would be such a shame to lose it and not get to prove everyone
wrong.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After a 10 min tug of war with
this wonderful fish I safely land a huge and beautiful Mirror carp, at an astonishing
12.2 kg (26.8 lbs.) breaking my old personal best.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Try it once and Carping can get you hooked for life!</span><span style="font-size: x-small;">– by Pali</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
As mentioned in my first blog post, I’m an addict angler and one of my poisons is Carp fishing.<br />
First time I heard about carp fishing was from a mate I knew thru a friend’s Chat room, he was always on about all these huge carps he was landing. And yeah yeah it’s all great, everyone know how fishermen like to tell tales and on their way home the fish grow an extra foot and gain a few pounds. I really didn’t know anything about carp fishing, and did not pay much attention to his ½drunk fisherman tales to begin with.<br />
<br />
Then one day I’m out fishing for bait in a pond I at the time just recently heard about, I see these 3 guys with a lot of fancy equipment. At least it looked very fancy to me as a regular Joe, who might been fishing for many years but mainly for trout and pike. They are there with some odd tents (bivys) and electronic bait alarms and what not; I’m standing at fair distance fishing for my common roaches that I’m going to use for bait in the following weekend for Pike fishing. I don’t know what to think, besides “isn’t that a bit too much equipment and taking all the fun out of fishing with electronic bait alarms?”<br />
<br />
Short after one of their alarms go off and this funny looking little fella come running out of his tent, like a Jack-in-the-box he’s running to his rod. In a speed that’s normally only seen if someone just knocked over a Harley Davidson outside a Biker bar, he reaches his rod and picks it up and set’s the hook. Now it got interesting, it was clearly not a small fish he just hooked.<br />
By the bend on his rod and the scream from his reel, that was not a bad size fish at all. I took a sip of my beer and continued to fish for my puny little roaches, thinking “Ahh they are pike fishing and he had hooked a large Pike, good for them”.<br />
But after good fight he landed something I had to go investigate, I was standing too far away to see what he just caught. But not that far away, that it wasn’t clear to me that, it was defiantly not a pike!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
I get over there and his mates are taking pictures, of the younger fella and his catch. And WOW what a fish he had landed, wonderful scales in a pattern I had never seen before and this fish was big, 15-20 pounds at least is my guess. I was puzzled and just had to bother the little hippy looking fella who just landed it, with a few questions. “Ummm I might be asking stupid, but ummm what is that u just caught there?” He lookes odd at me, like 'you got a rod in your hand and you don’t know what’s in the water?' But he kindly told me it was a Mirror carp, that they were carp anglers and that was why they had all this equipment. So maybe my chat buddy wasn’t all full of crap after all, after a few minutes I found out that not only wasn’t he full of it. I had in fact just met 3 of his fishing buddies; they not only became much friendlier once they figured out that I knew a mate of theirs. I now got a cold beer and the “big tour”, well they told me about the boilie baits they were using, the hair rig and how it worked. I should later find out, that was just a minor part of carp fishing.<br />
<br />
I went back to my fishing, later said good bye to them and wished them a good weekend. Now I went home and started to look up some carp videos on YouTube, I was sold and I had to try this - but I had none of all the equipment they had. No Carp rods, no boilies or hair rigs and further more I had never seen any of that stuff at the tackle stores I normally would buy my gear at. But no worry’s I had the internet; it would just be a matter of asking Google. After 5 min I kind of lost all hope, all the equipment I found was out of my price range.<br />
<br />
The past years I have been without a desent paying job, I have been studying (since I gave tat up when my daughter was little) and doing volunteer work for Red Cross and many other things that don’t really pay or pay very well money wise. None the less, do good things and good things will happen to you. A few weeks later I was at the same pond, with my rod and across the pond I see a bivy kind of like the once I’ve seen the other carp anglers had. A bit fancier but still the same, and I just had to check it out. I’m met by two really nice young anglers, about 10 years younger than me with a beer in their hand. Asking me before I get to say anything if I could drink a cold one, and how can anyone say no to a kind offer like that?<br />
<br />
I tell them how I’m interested in getting into this carp fishing game, but I had been looking at rods and equipment and to be honest it was a bit too expensive. A few min later they told me, not to worry as they had some cheap beginner gear from when they started. If I was serious they would sell me 3 rods, with rod pod and bait alarms in a carry bag for 150$. They had upgraded and didn’t use it anymore, so they would rather sell it cheap and see it put to good use, then let it collect dust at home in the attic. Sounded very fair to me, I struck a deal with them. If I would come back with cash, one of them would go home and pick it up and we could meet back at the pond in a few hours. Also if I was up for it, I could stay the night and they would show me how to fish with it.<br />
I finished my beer, packed my rod and everything up and drove home. On the way home I stopped by the ATM, got home picked up my beanbag chair, kissed my girlfriend and told her I would go carp fishing overnight. An hour or so later I am back at the pond, it’s now twilight and I hook up with the two guys who are already waiting on me there. I pay them and get a hold-all bag with 3 rods, 3 reels , 3 bait alarms and a rod pod, they also gave me some end tackle, rigs and a few boilies. Around dusk I’m about ready and are able to cast out with my 3 new rods, after casting out I sit down at the camp fire they have going on in my beanbag. Open’s a beer and getting ready for a long night of cozy fishing! The 2 guys are like “Are you not going to put up a tent or something before it get’ total dark?” They look at me like I’m crazy when I calm and relaxed tell em I got my beanbag chair, a good jacket and we have a fire going. That it will be all I need for the night, so we drink some beers, having a really nice evening together and a new friendship is born. Around 2am they decide they had enough and they go to bed, I stack some more wood on the fire and open another cold beer. Watching the pond in the moonlight and enjoying the summer night stars, I finish a beer or two more and slowly drift’s off to sleep.<br />
<br />
<br />
Early in the morning I somewhat woken up, I’m a bit disorientate and not sure what woke me up. I figure I need to sleep a bit more, but then I hear an odd noise from my rod pod. I figure id better go check it before I go to sleep again, maybe that was what woke me? I look over there and see the whole thing have tipped over, all the rods are in one big mess and one reel is letting out line. NOW I’m awake! I run over there and pick up the rod letting out line and give it a pull to set the hook. And a good fight has just started, my rod has a good bend and I’m working the fish in. But where is the net? The two guys I barely know is still sleeping, but I figured I can borrow there net no problem. No need to wake them from their sleep. I’ve set the hook and reeled in the fish as far that I know it have cleared whatever snags there might be, Right? I get the rod pod on its feed again and lay down my rod to go pick up the net. Right there I was about to learn my first rule of carp fishing, because when I got back to the rod with the net - there is no fish. §1 Always Keep you line tight with a carp on the hook. §2 Always ALWAYS keep you lint tight with a carp on the hook.<br />
<br />
There I stand with the early sun, shining down over the water and the first carp just spit the hook. Very disappointed! I cast out and sits down again, open’ a beer and stir up in the ash and relights the fire. Maybe an hour later my two new friends come out and I tell them I had a carp on the hook, they haven’t had a single bite all night and again looks at me like ‘This dude is not all there’ Until I told them how it was fighting and that I finally when it was close to the bank I had laid down my rod to look for the net, just to come back to find the fish was gone. And that I was 100% sure I had hooked a big fish, by then they both broke out in laughter, asking why I did not wake them up. Telling me that I should never, loosen the line or put down my rod with a carp on the line. That they will just spit the hook out! I’m sitting there feeling a bit stupid but again, I had a fish on the hook, had the pleasure of the fight. As we all know; in life we get some and we lose some, especially when it comes to fishing. After “we” stopped laughing at my beginner mistake, they told me how they had been on several overnight trips before they even hooked their first carp. At least that was a bit of a comfort, but it also fueled the addiction.<br />
<br />
<br />
It wasn’t long before I was out there again, that time I was lucky enough to both hook and land a nice Carp!<br />
<br />
<br />
I had also found out that I was not nearly done buying equipment; I still needed a landing net, unhooking mat, hooks, lead core, weights, safety clips, rig materials and loads of different baits. Lucky enough I had this ½drunk mate on the net, who often had told me how he was a big shot carp angler. I took him on his word and asked if he didn’t have a bit of old stuff he no longer used, he did and I took a drive to his place. Where I got a free Unhooking mat, 10 pounds of different fresh boilies and he showed me how to tie a few different rigs.<br />
<br />
Since I have spend pretty much all the money I can spare on this addiction, luckily my family have yet to take me to an intervention.<br />

An introduction of an angling addict, powered by passion! <span style="font-size: x-small;">- by Pali</span></h2>
<br />
This is my first blog entry here; in fact it’s my first blog entry ever. I used to have an online diary on a gardening site, where I would do daily or weekly updates on my passion for indoor and greenhouse gardening. Share pictures and helpful step-by-step information, DIY tutorials on hydroponic grow systems and True Aeroponics. That later led me to write product reviews for an European gardening magazine published in 5 languages, I have traveled as far as to Australia to optimize greenhouses for flower production. But enough about all that, this is a blog about my passion for fishing.<br />
<br />
It all started with my granddad taking me fishing a summer when I was a small kid, no more than 6 years old. Fishing in the stream running not far from their house, he showed me how to tie my first knots and how far from the cork we should place the hook n worm. We would sit for many hours that summer fishing, just talking and looking for that cork float to go under. We would eat the lunch my grandmother had prepared us, he would drink a cold beer and I would drink my grandmother’s homemade fruit cordial, and if I was really lucky I would maybe get a soda pop.<br />
<br />
I have always loved the outdoors, as a kid I grew up on a small farm where we grew all our veggies, milked our cow and slaughtered our own animals for meat. I didn’t have a lot of fancy toys, no PlayStations and Xbox’s around back then (later I would get a Comodore64). My best friend was my ET bike (BMX bike) and my fishing rod, after watching Steven Spielberg’s Movie ET in the 80’s every real boy wanted a BMX bike. They were common known here as the ET bike. I would ride that for several miles on dirt roads, with a backpack on my back. Packed with my small telescopic rod, a small tackle box, my lunchbox with a few sammies and something to drink. Riding to the nearest trout lake, there I would hide my bike in the forest scrubs and sneak into the pay lake area. Crossing a stream by a knocked over tree, as I didn’t have money to pay for the fishing. Being around 7-8 years old, no one really paid any attention to me anyway. Everyone would think I was with my parents there, but the fact being I can’t really recall my dad ever taking me fishing just him and me. After some time the owner started to notice I was there a lot, but never gave me any trouble about it. Told me to pay when I could and when I could not it was okay too, but it would be better if I parked my bike in the parking area and walked on the trails to the pond, instead of hiding in the bushes and risking falling in the cold stream, crossing it all by myself in the forest with no one to help me if I had fallen in.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
As a teen I had a good friend from school who also loved to fish and I would often go fishing with him and his dad, his dad introduced us to Northern pike fishing and taught me how to smoke trout and eel. They had a family cabin near a great fishing stream, where we would go for a week at a time in the school vacations. There was a river lock, which was used to flood the hatchery’s ponds on the other side of the stream.<br />
In the two lock boxes we would fish for eel, by putting a handful of worms in a nylon stocking. Tie a knot on it and tie it to a strong braid line, add a sinker and sink one to the bottom off each lock box. Later once we had our first trout’s, we would pull out our nylon stockings and there would 9 out of 10 times be at least a few eels hanging onto it. Due to their backward facing teeth the eel can’t let go of the nylon once they bite into it, it’s in fact so effective that it have later been banned here and is now considered an illegal fishing technique.<br />
The fresh trout’s and eels where gutted, cleaned and smoked in our transportable smoke oven. Less than an hour later we would have a lunch worthy of kings, sitting in the beautiful nature enjoying each others company and listening to the birds singing around us. My friends dad would tell us about the birds, there songs and stories from when he was a kid fishing this stream.<br />
<br />
What happened then, well I moved out from my parent’s house short after I turned 17 to study in another part of the country. Found a sweet girl and being young and foolish, she ended up getting pregnant; we got married and had a beautiful daughter together. I have never regretted this for one second, it’s been hard from time to time and yeah I did not get to travel around India, the States and all the other cool places many of my friends would go travel for months or even a year at a time in some cases. On the other side I had a beautiful daughter, a character building experience of a wife getting sick during her pregnancy.<br />
There I was a 18 year old kid, with my first apartment, living with my wife who was pregnant with my child. She got sick and for the last 5 months of the pregnancy, wasn’t able to do much but laying down. She was not allowed to lift anything heavier than two pounds, and so it was for about 18 months after the birth too. I had quit my school to get a job; I was working to provide for my new family. When I wasn’t working, I was shopping, cooking, cleaning and doing laundry.<br />
<br />
I don’t know if we simply grew apart or if my wife just got too used to me doing all these things at home, when she was doing nothing but after she got well it never really got the same again. I didn't want to be doing everytihing athome no more, I wanted to pursue my dream, so I used the last money I had saved up from before I met her and from selling my fishing gear. I took a course as a Body piercer and opened my own piercing studio; something I had wanted to do since I was 15 but my parents always told me was bad idea.<br />
<br />
A few months later my wife asked for a divorce – I moved into my new studio - we stayed friends and I had my daughter 50% of the time. Today she is 14 years old; she loves fishing, horseback riding and the outdoors.<br />
<br />
Then I went in the army in my early 20's, had to close my studio. Here it’s a lottery, you pull a number and depending on what number you get you have to join the army. I was not happy about this, but I tried to get the best out of a bad situation. It ended up costing me pretty much everything I had, when I got out again I had nothing but my daughter. I lost my new Girlfriend who also screwed up my lease on my studio/apartment, so I ended up living on a couch at a friend’s place till I was able to get back on my feet.<br />
Finally I got myself a new place, a good job and everything was back on track. I had not been out fishing now for 5 or 7 years, one day a buddy asked me how I would feel about going fishing with him. I was sold, I think he could see my eyes light up as a kid on Christmas morning. I told him that was probably the best idea I had heard for a long long time. (We already did a lot of outdoor activitys together, from tree climbing to camping in shelters in the surrounding nature) The very next day we went out picking up a new rod for me, got myself a Lawson Kodiak 8 ft. 10-30 gram spinning rod and an Okuma Stingray reel, for around 200$ and some light fishing tackle to go with it. A good rod and reel in a cheaper end, which have really proven itself worth any penny. I still use both on a very regular basis now close to 10 years later, for everything from trout to pike fishing and small carps too.<br />
<br />
Today I have a room in the garage dedicated to my rods, fishing gear and all the equipment I use for my passion for fishing and I will never ever again sell my equipment no matter what. I’d rather sell a kidney on the black market then sell my rods!<br />
<br />
